Our lab develops advanced theranostic strategies for brain tumors by combining focused ultrasound with innovative therapeutic agents. In the presence of intravenously administered microbubbles, FUS enables transient and localized opening of the blood–brain and brain–tumor barriers, enhancing the delivery of anticancer drugs directly to tumor tissue. This platform supports the development of next-generation combination therapies integrating targeted drug delivery, imaging and ultrasound-mediated treatment to improve the precision and efficacy of brain tumor therapy.

Technological Facilities

  • Transducers operating at different frequencies for transcranial ultrasound applications in rodents;
  • Advanced systems for real-time monitoring, control and characterization of microbubble acoustic activity during FUS treatments;
  • Systems for continuous monitoring and recording of animals’ physiological state, enabling correlation with acoustic activity and treatment parameters.
